Update

I am still doing book reviews. I know that it has been awhile but feel free to contact me!

I'm ashamed....

Well, I am a little ashamed for my self.

I have let my books sit and left them behind to go on with my normal life. I have gotten two to three emails wondering where I am at. Well, I am renewing my efforts! My little kiddies return to school and I will now have my free time returned to me! My husband is gone training for the Army for a while :(, while i am saddened, It does give me more time to write to take my mind off his being gone. So this is where I am at. I need help! Anyone! Some have noticed that I pulled Ana, my love off sale. I received my first negative review and I ran and hide for awhile. So I sucked up my pouting and I realized yes, my book does need work, so first I am changing the cover. I have a few in mind, but suggestions would be most welcome. The cover is to the side in the amazon ad. The second book is going to be coming out here soon and that title is going to be called : The Viscount's Predicament. So I was thinking: The Duke's Chance or something to along with each other. Also if anyone knows a proofreader and editor that would be awesome. I have went through this book like 5 times and still find stuff and apparently one reader likened me to a third grade writer. Anyway. I will make a promise to myself to get on here everyday and also on Absolute write, which is my favorite site! So yes, I will write more on something tomorrow, maybe remark about the weather. :)

Blog Chain

This is for the Blog chain of March 2011 for the AW forum. I hope I did this right! Enjoy.

 Ana My Love:

Lady Ana Carmichael has everything. She has the beauty, smarts and refreshing nature that draws people in. She also has a secret that could make her lose everything.

She is unique and special. Very independent and shuns the confines of convention. Facing her ex fiance for the first time in two years, she doesn't back down to the challenge thrown at her. When knocked down, she gets back up swinging.

 Crossing the Bridge of Autism

Hunter Maddux is a little boy learning his way in the world. He is a munchkin butt with a tendency to charm many hearts.

He is special for being my little boy, and also because he has Autism. We love him no less. This is our story that we share with thousands of other children with the same disorder.

Another lesson....

Being patient is not something that would describe me at all. Throughout the whole process of writing to publishing as been a hard lesson learned. I thought that I would share:

Being patient is the most important. Nothing gets achieved overnight. It takes time to establish a groove, to get followers, to gain experience. When I first start I thought that it would be easy and quick. I was so wrong and I have learned the hard way. Wait and good things will come.

Don't get ahead of yourself. Writing comes first. Always. Market later. I just finished my second book but I am being patient and making sure that I don't get ahead before it is ready. I made this mistake the first time.

Someone once told me that to be successful, keep writing. It doesn't matter if everyone in the world hates your first book. At least you achieved something. The first stepping stone is getting up the courage to go publish it. Then publish the second, but keep writing if you love it. Who cares what other people think!

Be Confidant and Respectful. Know that your work is good and your proud of it. Be respectful to those who disagree. I read a lot of threads in forums and I am appalled at people's behavior. Just because there is not a actual face talking to you, you can still do damage through words.

Love what you do. Perfection. If you get tired or working on your novel, don't toss it or give up. Put it aside and work on something new for awhile. This is how I keep things new and exciting.

These are just a few that come to mind, maybe later I will post some more when I think on it more.

Sales Figures for Jan and Feb. 2011

I promised a few people that I would post my sales figures for the month of Jan and Feb 2011. While I am not posting actually sales, I am posting the number of books I have sold. Here goes:

Jan 2011 With no promoting whatsoever

Amazon: 5 books
Smashwords: 3 books
Barnes and Noble: 0

Feb 2011 Starting to promote

Amazon: 12 books
Smashwords: 4 books
Barnes and Noble: 2 books

March 2011 For the first 2 days

Amazon: 2 books
Smashwords: 3 Books

It is not much from what I have been reading around on sales, but for me this is great. It shows that my promoting has an impact. I have also been told that having more than one book is needed. Three was the key. So I am working on the second book!

If anyone else would like to post their sales, Feel Free!

Trade Book Reviews!

A Great way to boost sales are to reviews on your books. It is hard to get those, so I decided to start a post on trading reviews. I will review your book in exchange of my book getting reviewed. I want to be fair and honest to all reviews. So if you are interested either email me at the link on the upper right corner or post a comment. I don't want to review all and any book, so please let me know what genre it is and how long. I am looking for: Romance, Paranormal, Thriller, Some Non Fiction and Children books. I might consider YA, but please make a brief description. Thank you everyone!

Forums

Forums are great place to meet new people and get valuable information. I am apart of a couple of really good forums and I thought that I would share. Some of you already know, but for those who don't, well you now you do!

Absolute Write Water Cooler: This is my number one best site. Everyone is extremely helpful and the resources and connections obtained are invaluable to a writer.

Kindle Forums: This is good site to for information and learning. This site is a little more confusing to navigate, but once you get the hang of it, it is an awesome site.

PubIt: They have a forum, while I find it confusing, some people like it.

WritingForum.com: this has the same setup as AW (First on list). I am new to this one, so I will have to get back to this later.

Yahoo Groups are another valuable site to meet other authors and gain information.

Feel free to add to the list if anyone can come up with other good sites!

Learning never ends.....

I started lurking around for various different reasons. To make new friends, to promote my book, to join forums and just to sit back and talk with fellow writers just like me. No one really told me that it would turn out to be like a part time job. I decided to share some of the important things that I have learned. Most which everyone will already know, but who cares.

1. Promote your book in an entirely professional manner. No SPAMMING. I have seen this on some forums and I think that it is rude to pop up and throw your book in faces of the community without staying and making yourself apart of that community.

2. Format, Grammar, Spelling, Editing. These things are never ending and are never done. Somewhere in your book there are mistakes! Just try your best and do not throw your book out there full of errors. Forums are a great way to get helpful information and links to people that know their stuff!

3. Self-Publishing has become competitive since technology has grown so much. So keeping on top of current trends are smart. Getting yourself out there so people to see you and your book are important keys. Forums, Social Networking, Blogs, and even Word of mouth are extremely important to your bottom line and long term goals.

4. A good cover that is eye catching, a good sample for readers to read, and a good description will move mountain if you do everything right.  This I have learned the hard way, so don't make the same mistakes.

Keeping up with everything above should help. My biggest problem now is patience! I have none. It is the waiting to see results that are killing me. I have total confidence that I have done good so far. Now lets hope you can do good as well. I will look forward to any comments on anyone success!
